Our Children are Paying the Price

A study just published in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) estimates about 5.5 million years of life lost for children due to school closures. “Missing school has adverse effects on eventual educational attainment… lowered graduation rates, total educational attainment, and subsequent income… [leading to] shortened life expectancy.”

SAVE THE CHILDREN!
Sign-On Petition for NH Citizens

We the undersigned are deeply concerned that masking and social distancing are seriously harming our children, physically and mentally. Our concerns are shared by many in the field of medicine, psychology, and education.

One of Europe’s leading neurologists, Dr. Margaretta Griesz-Brisson, says that forcing children to wear masks is criminal because their brains crave oxygen and its restriction can lead to irreversible damage (http://bit.ly/3dAkHhC). We have to wonder at the loss of common sense when witnessing groups of children climbing Mt. Monadnock or engaging in sports or other physical activities while wearing masks.

Besides biological harms, masks seriously compromise speaking and listening and block crucial non-verbal cues. Children need to see faces to understand their social world. They are being routinely denied from seeing others’ smiling affirmations. Younger children often burst into tears when encountering someone in a mask (http://bit.ly/37dIgvq). Physical distancing also greatly obstructs social and emotional connection. How did we let simple friendship and closeness become a crime?

Most concerning is the traumatizing message that we are imposing on our children: that their bodies can kill other people, and that they could easily die from COVID-19. The data simply do not support these conclusions.

The CDC estimates the mortality rate for children under 20 to be 0.000003, significantly less than the seasonal flu. UK infectious disease expert Mark Woolhouse stated in late July that there is not a single confirmed case of infection of a teacher by a pupil worldwide (http://dailym.ai/3lSgwjU). A German study concluded that children actually help stop infectious spread (http://bit.ly/3dzgkTI). Swedish researchers found school staff members no likelier than other professions to become infected. Finnish schools were not found to spread or increase the rate of infection. An Ireland study (http://bit.ly/2GYp8qF) and two Australian studies (http://bit.ly/2T7CJyi) agree. Reports from US schools this year so far agree (http://bit.ly/3kbwvt6).

In Sweden, which never closed schools or businesses, everyone is now living their lives as normal, free of masks and social distancing, while their mortality rate is below 17 other countries that all used lockdowns – including the USA.

There is already ample evidence that children are developing long-term problems due to the pandemic measures, such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and PTSD (http://bit.ly/342yqdE).

We are calling on all scientifically-informed doctors, nurses, educators, and citizens to help reverse these baseless, dangerous, and inhumane policies locally and around the state.
